Born 1804, Bristol, England. Died 1852, Bath England (suicide).

Was 'very highly thought of by the Ecclesiologists' (Radford 1979:188). He designed Littlemore Church in Oxfordshire which Radford points out is the model for St Mark's Church (now Cathedral) at George and suggests that Underwood supplied the designs for the Holy Trinity Church at Belvidere (1855) which is usually ascribed to William BUTTERFIELD or Sophia GRAY.
