Alan R Meadley was born on 5th April 1910 in Pretoria and died in 1983 in Johannesburg. His last address was The Donga, Maple Drive, Sandton. He trained at the Architectural Association in London and become a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) a title no longer awarded. One of his last major commissions was the Traduna Building in Jorissen Street in Johannesburg. During the Second World war he had a distinguished career as a captain engineer (Sapper) with the South African Army and was decorated by the Americans for valour with the Bronze Star. He never married.
