The Mewway Community Sports and Recreation Hall, Khayelitsha, Cape Town was completed in 1999. Built as one of the 'practice facilities' of the City of Cape Town's Olympic Bid Programme it was initially conceived to serve the boxing 'sports code'. Over the past twelve years it has performed successfully as a multi-functional space for the Khayelitsha community, serving the young and the old, different sports codes as well as various community organizations.
