Architect

A professional stonemason, Terry was brought out to South Africa as an assistant (medewerker) to the new Community of St Augustine. He built the chapel at Thaba Nchu, Free State 'a plain burnt-brick building, with a pitched roof of galvanised iron' (Schoeman 1982:80) and the community hall and church at Modderspoort, Free State, which was in Gothic Revival style. He also designed the Albion Hotel (later known as the Phoenix Hotel) in Bloemfontein, opened in 1878.
