Was articled to THOMPSON & FORSYTH from 13 March 1922 until 13 March 1925 and was employed by TDP Forsyth until February 1929. Between February 1929 and April 1931 he worked with KALLENBACH, KENNEDY & FURNER, HW SPICER and KR McKENZIE. From April 1931 until January 1933 he worked for the Town Planning Department of the Northern Rhodesian (Zambian) Government. He was an associate of TDP FORSYTH's in Cape Town from about 1933. Toll was a foundation member of the Cape Town School of Architecture. By 1947 he was in East London. ISAA 1927.
