DipArch 1956 (Pretoria); BArch 1966 (Pretoria); RIBA In South Africa he had his own architectural practice, RAINER GERHARDT ARCHITECTS, with premises in Morningside, Durban, where he employed architects, architectural technicians and Administrative staff. Projects included hospitals, medical clinics, hostels, schools, tschnical training colleges and flats.
