Uniquely rose through all ranks at his alma mater Natal/UKZN from Lecturer to Senior Professor before being appointed Professor at Free State in 2010.
Recipient of the Writers and Critics Award (1989) and Medal of Distinction (2005) of the SA Institute of Architects.
