Although this field [Architecture] has little appeal for women generally, Dr. Doreen Greig, the author of some standard works on South African architecture, has become the first woman president-in-chief of the Institute of Architects. There were only 21 female architects in South Africa in 1971. This excerpt was taken from the Standard Encyclopedia of Southern Africa (1976). Submitted by Arthur BARKER.
