HUIJSSE, Frederik Theodor

Born:

Architect

Also spelt HUYSSE

Dutch immigrant Supervisor under WIERDA in ZAR PWD (MINNAAR, 2000: 42). Registered in the directory of architects in Longman's Directory of 1899. Was a member of the Hollander Corps 4th Platoon, not in active engagement (Ferreira 1977: 184). At some point he must have been captured and deported to Portugal as a Prisoner of War because it is recorded that on 1901 05 22 he escaped from Peniche in that country, only to hand himself over to the 23rd Regiment in Coimbra three days later (Schoeman 2011: 156).
