Arrived in the ZAR from Utrecht in 1893. Rex (1974: 375) records him as being in the architectural service of the ZAR PWD. On 1895 02 12 he married Cornelia Petronella Papenfus (1876-1897) by whom he had one child Sophia Maria (1896–1902). On 1898 08 02 he married Maria Elizabeth Johanna Susanna Ebersohn (1874-1901) by whom he had two children, Anna Catharina (1899-1991) and Jacobus Hendricus (1900-1901). In 1902 12 08 he married Dina Johanna Loots (1877-19??) by whom he had seven children, Hannah Wilhelmina (1904–1981|), Magdalena Elizabeth (1905–19??), Jacobus Hendrikus (1906–1980), Phillipus Johannes Cornelis (1907–1907), Willem Christiaan (1908–1970), Dina Johanna (1912–1913), Wilhelmina Godhart (1916–19??).
