FANCOURT-WHITE, John

An Australian engineer who was invited by John Montague to take charge of the building of Cradock Pass in about 1840. Fancourt-White built a camp which he called 'Blanco' or 'Whitesville' outside George during road works, and a house for himself which he called Fancourt in the same area.
