He designed several buildings in the Netherlands before coming to South Africa where, by 1937, he was working for WALGATE & ELSWORTH. He designed mainly residential buildings while with the firm before going to work for the Cape Town City Council, City Engineers Department, Town Planning Division where he also carried out several projects. By 1955 he was working for CHAPMAN & SPOOR but by 1969 he was on his own working in Cape Town.
