Contractor


Born in Schiedam, the Netherlands. Emigrated to the then ZAR accompanied by his wife Johanna Hendrika, nee Eijlbregt (1861-1942). Here he practiced as a building contractor and was responsible for constructing, amongst others the defensive forts around Pretoria and the Leprozen-Inrigting / Leprosy Asylum - now Westfort Village, and erecting the Sammy Marks Fountain.
