Emigrated as a carpenter and contractor to South Africa in 1936. Here he worked in association with the contractors POLS and VAN VUURE; and P TWISK. He assisted in the erection of the historical frieze of the Voortrekker Monument. His likeness is part of the panel depicting the inauguration of Retief as Governor. He was married to Stientje van Bruggen (1888-1975). He died in Pretoria, and they were buried in the Rebecca Street Cemetery, Pretoria West. References Ploeger, Jan. 1994.
