These two former warehouses formed part of the restoration of the street block opposite Riebeeck Square in the 1990s. The block was named Heritage Square, and includes the Cape Heritage Hotel, restaurants and a wine bar. Since their restoration, the two buildings had housed various companies such as a film production studio and a health studio. They currently (2022) serve as apartment accommodation for the hotel.

Rennie (1978:24) writes: "Budricks panoramas of c1900 show building under construction. Site previously occupied by a 5-bay, 2-storey townhouse, visible in Millard's panorama c1859."

The two heavy teak central warehouse doors mentioned by Rennie in his description and shown in his 1978 photo, are no longer visible from the street. Possibly retained behind the modern glass entrance doors or used elsewhere.
