Click to view map Coordinates: | Started in 1991 and still in progress. This delightful object sits comfortably and confidently in the shadow of Cavendish shopping centre in Claremont. It has been owner built by Hans Niehaus on a shoestring budget and is still a work in progress. Like Sagrada Familia it almost doesn't want to be finished because while it remains a work in progress it can always hold out the promise of perfection. It houses an antiques gallery even though some glazing and its finishes are missing. The unrestrained curves of the main facade make no apology. They are curved simply because they are beautiful. The owner is always eager to show anyone interested around his building. (Mike BELL September 2012) |
