| Granted in 1691 to a Huguenot, Daniel Hugo, Nieuwe Sion is a working farm on Bergrivier. Over the years, the site and buildings have been much altered. The original house burnt down in 1982; a coach house from 1913 and some old oaks are the only historic remains. Architects KrugerRoos designed a new house and a series of barns: a 'long barn' for storing and packing fruit, a second housing the farm offices and a third with guest accommodation, while the coach house was recycled as a cottage.
