Built at the request of the Barry's for transporting their goods between Port Beaufort and Barrydale and beyond. Constructed with convict labour, initially 300 of them transferred from the newly completed Robinson Pass, but later with a reduced number. The ruins of their accommodation still lie at the base of the pass.
