The corrugated iron roof sheeting at the back of the building was flattened out, except at the overlaps, to increase coverage. Transcription of plaque: Die restourasie van hierdei gebou is moontlik gemaak deur die finansiële bydra van die Raad vir Nasionale Gedenkwaardighede en mnr. P. Birch. Onthul deur die Staatspresident, mnr. M. Viljoen, DVD op 1 Maart 1983. The restoration of this building was facilitated by the financial contributions of the National Monuments Council and Mr P. Birch. Unveiled by the State President, Mr M. Viljoen, DMS, on 1 March 1983.
