Click to view large map Coordinates: | When after my arrival here [Rustenburg] in 2012 I got interested in Karl Heyne I found that a 'Karl Heyne Guest House' had existed in Rustenburg. From the past proprietors I found out, that Karl Heyne had built that house and had stayed there until he died in December 1933. * The place was being advertised as a 'Victorian Style Residence'. On inspection I was struck by the over abundance of Victoriana that adorned the building, reasoning that in renovating it things had been overdone. I then decided not to include it in my portfolio of Heyne Structures. Later, however, I came across an illustration which shows that the building in outer appearance had hardly changed from the original. I should say that the house was built in the second decade of the last century. (Konrad Voges, August 2016) * Heloise Heyne, Heynes great-granddaughter, in her report also mentions this dwelling. |
