The house was built by Nicolaas van der Walt (1756-1811) who had been living on the farm since 1798. The gable was added in 1887. In 1903 the British military purchased portions of this and other farms on which to establish a military training camp. After 1910 the farm was converted into an agricultural school. The farmhouse now houses the PW Vorster Museum. (Paul van der Merwe, June 2017)
