Click to view map Coordinates: | Ford House (also known as Brister House). Designed by the Johannesburg based architects Barlin and Chaskelson. Until 1993 this was the only high rise to be constructed on the Eastern side of this section of Main Street (that section which was formally Queens Street). Unlike the buildings on the Western side, there was no requirement for the first floor walkway and associated retail. On the Main Street side, Ford house rises to its full 19 storey height without any set back, broken only by the canopy overhanging the pavement and shading Ground and First Floors.
