Just outside the present village to the north-east lies what must have been the nucleus-to-be of the new town. There, now in the middle of nowhere, stands a rather magnificent Gothic Revival edifice. When the town eventually grew nearer the railway station, the 'old De Doorns' became redundant. The church was sold.

(Fransen 2004:390-1)

The building now (2022) houses an agricultural support company.
