Typical corner-shop with L-shaped verandah to the street under cat-slide corrugated iron roof, entrance located on corner with access loft door above, two flanking stoepkamers at each end, the one an extension to the main roof, having a captured gable to the street, the body of the building under a hipped corrugated-iron roof, the fretwork timber bargeboards being the only decorative style-bearing elements. The stoep enclosures are of a later date, and the coursed sandstone ashlar has been painted over where still exposed. References: Fransen, Hans. 2004. The old buildings of the Cape.
