This forms part of the Moravian Mission precinct declared in its entirety as a then National Monument in 1975, now a Provincial Heritage Resource. According to Fransen (2006:130) it was part of the original structures that formed part of the farm outbuildings of Vogelstruyskraal, as the earlier farm had been named.
