This forms part of the Moravian Mission precinct declared in its entirety as a then National Monument in 1975, now a Provincial Heritage Resource. According to Fransen (2006:130) it was part of the original structures that formed part of the farm outbuildings of Vogelstruyskraal, as the earlier farm had been named. Formerly it operated as the Mission Store while it is now the Heritage Office.
