Messrs Leslie and Harry Lazarus had the first local Bioscope, Leslie's Picture Palace. The building was known as Harbour Mansions and included Leslie's Private Hotel.

Now [2022] the Olympia Cafe and Deli

The Lazarus Brothers had architect Leon Norman design a building to include a picture palace which could seat 360 persons downstairs and 126 persons upstairs. Originally called Leslie's Picture Palace it was renamed after the Olympia Cafe on the corner.

Silent movies were the order of the day with piano accompaniment until 1931 when, with the introduction of sound, an operator's box was added by Messrs African Theatres Ltd.

(Extracted from Walker. 2010:92)

There is still a piano in the building and a pianist sits and performs for the people working in the bakery.
