Entabeni
(Under the mountain) Built by
Johannes Stephanus Joubert (1870-
1949) in 1909 on a farm just outside of
Heidelberg. He was a building contractor
and built the Laer and Hoër Volkskool. He
also built the Hostels: Excelsior, Transvalia
and Concordia, which have since been demolished.
The property was confiscated by the
government in about 1914 and was sold to
Senator Francious (Frank) Robertson in
1940. There are streets named after him
and his wife Mona in Jordaan Park. His
son Reitz Robertson inherited the
farm in 1977. He was a Mayor of
Heidelberg at one time.
