Fort Namutoni is one of the fortifications erected initially as cattle-disease control posts after the outbreak of the rinderpest in 1879. (Vogt 2004:124) Now accommodation for visitors to the Etosha National Park. It was declared a Historical Monument on 15 February 1950.
