Click to view large map Coordinates: | The complex comprises the Orient Theatre on the northwest side and public change-rooms at Ground Floor and restaurant at First Floor on the southwest side. The Mayor's Minute of 1965, circulated by the Municipality of East London, recorded the following details of the amenities constructed at the Orient Beach: We are very happy to be able to announce that the opening of the new restaurant and change rooms at the Orient Beach will take place on the 10th December this year, and that these amenities will be available in the forthcoming season. The total cost of the scheme is approximately R450,000. This new landmark on our beach front, with its built-in theatre, will, I know, be an asset to our holiday-makers and convince them that East London offers the best. The Orient and Eastern Beaches have continued to enjoy tremendous popularity during the past twelve months and our caravan and camping sites, which are acknowledged as being amongst the most comfortable in the Republic, were again in great demand, as shown by the redesign and new layout of the Nahoon Caravan Park with a view to providing even better facilities.
