The original Pilgrim's & Sabie News building was situated on this stand. The building burned down in 1918. A Mr. Murray who stayed on the premises burned to death in this fire. The present Iron Store building was erected on this site as a store room for the Pilgrim's Hotel. The original business known as the Iron Store was owned by RTN James in the 1870s and sold mainly groceries and digging equipment. (Rene Reinders. 2016:Item 19.
