The inscriptions on the plaques flanking the main gate record the following information:

THIS PARK WAS DECLARED OPEN BY
LIEUT COL HARRIS CMG VD
ON DECEMBER 10TH 1908
THE PLOT OF GROUND WAS GENEROUSLY
PRESENTED BY THE DIRECTORS OF THE
DE BEERS CONSOLIDATED MINES LTD
TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF BEACONSFIELD
T PRATLEY MAYOR

THESE GATES WERE PRESENTED BY
GIBSON BROS JA & FC
EARLY COACH PIONEERS
BEFORE RAILWAYS, 1879
TRAMWAY 1887 ELECTRIC 1906

When these images were posted in December 2022, Chris Teale [who grew up immediately adjacent to these historic gates] commented: "There was a beautiful bandstand [in the Park] as well. It is a pity that the various regimes who have ruled the city overlooked this historical space."
