Arthur House
Andrew Young Arthur (1838-1906)
came to Heidelberg with his wife Mary
Sinclair nee Campbell (1835-1909) in
1872, with their two children John (1868-
1941) and Elizabeth (1869-1942) and stayed
in this house. They opened a butchery. One
can see the house in the 1874 and 1880
pictures of Heidelberg. Extensions on both
sides of the house have been added. There is
a plaque in the Methodist Church in honour to
the two teenagers, Andrew and Annabella,
that died of Typhoid in 1897. This house
could be the oldest still
standing in Heidelberg
