| (Pryce-Lewis list 562). Mostly demolished. This was the Central Power Station, which occupied a long erf on the southern side of Stegmann Road. It was taken over by the Cape Town city council in 1912, and later closed. The buildings continued to be used as a depot for the city electricity department until most of them were demolished in the late 1980s, to make way for The Atrium (now 'Stadium on Main') commercial development. What remains is now occupied by a U-Turn Homeless Ministries service centre. (Arthur Radburn, April 2024) |
