DIAS CROSS (PADRAO) REPLICA, BUSHMAN'S RIVER MOUTH - BOESMANSRIVIERMOND, EC A replica of a Dias Cross is located outside the Hall at Bushman's River Mouth. It is mounted on a low square face-brick plinth which in turn is mounted on two broad brick-on-edge face-brick steps. An engraved aluminium plaque at the base of the cross has the following inscription in English and Afrikaans: THIS REPLICA OF THE PADRAO ERECTED AT KWAAIHOEK BY BARTHOLOMEU DIAS IN 1488 WAS CONSTRUCTED BY MR. H.S. BUTT AND DONATED TO THE LOCAL DIAS 500 FESTIVAL COMMITTEE FOR THE USE AT THE FESTIVITIES AT KWAAIHOEK ON 12TH MARCH 1988.
