In 1976, Mrs Miertjie le Roux (née Prinsloo), a descendant of Willem Prinsloo, who settled on the farm Kaalfontein in 1888, donated 16 hectares of the farm Kaalfontein, which includes the old homestead and outbuildings, to the National Cultural History and Open-Air Museum. In 1980, she added approximately ten hectares to this donation. The old homestead on the farm was built in 1882 during the war against the Ndebele tribe of Mapog by Bap Massyn and Koos Koekemoer from Witfontein, Bronkhorstspruit. It is a South African agricultural history museum, showcasing the development of South African agriculture from the Stone Age until the present day. The opening of the Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum took place on March 29, 1980, when it was officially opened by Mr Hendrik Schoeman, the then Minister of Agriculture.
