Click to view large map Coordinates: | Commemorates the Boer who fell in the Battle of Spioenkop in January 1900. The monument, a square column of approximately 5.5 meters, built from hewn granite, stands on the northern slope of the plateau and looks down over the northern approach to the battlefield. On the northern and southern sides of the column, the names of the 106 citizens and officers who fell in the battles before and during the fight on the hill are engraved. The state coats of arms of the two Boer republics are affixed to the western and eastern sides of the monument. |
