The stable was designed by the Bauhaus-trained local architectural luminary, Steffen AHRENDS, for the stud stallion, Northfields, bought from the Coolmore Stud in Kentucky, USA, on the recommendation of the expert bloodstock agent, Robin Bruss. The purchase made headlines as the most expensive horse in the world at that time. Sydney Press paid R3,1 million for him. No expense was spared on the stable built for him, with solid timber doors, windows and suchlike, and top-quality brass fittings throughout. His groom was housed in the storey above his stables.

Today it is rentable holiday accommodation.
