Notes from THE MODERN FLAT 1948

The block occupies an important frontage on one of the main streets in Pretoria. On the ground floor shops are planned round an open courtyard.

TYPE. One-room flats

ACCESS. Access gallery, staircase and lifts.

NO. OF FLATS. Shops on ground floor. Offices on first floor. Four upper floors. Six flats per floor. Total: 24 flats.

CONSTRUCTION. Reinforced concrete frame, exposed on main front. Brick infilling, faced with black terrazzo tiles.
