This monument commemorates the tragic flood that hit the Baviaanskloof on May 5, 1916.

The flood claimed the lives of multiple residents, including four members of the Campbell family who are buried in a joint grave on the farm Damsedrif.

It was erected by the local agricultural union in 1999, the memorial needle is located just east of Studtis on the northern side of the road (farm Kleinpoort-Wes).
