Frederick William MASEY: Architect

THE fall of the site towards the road is arranged in terraces adding to the dignity of the elevation which, facing practically due north, possesses the quiet restfulness and balance of proportion seen in the early Dutch homes south of the Hex River Mountains.

The plan is simple, with sitting-room under the columned verandah en suite with the dining-room under the right-hand gable. Reception rooms, sleeping accommodation — both rooms and porches — and the kitchen department, each form a distinct group. Built-in furniture, washing basins, etc., are a feature of the bedrooms. Cooking is by electricity, and water-heating by a slow combustion boiler.
