Click to view map Coordinates: | (Langham-Carter MS:25) The church was consecrated on 30 July 1837. It was declared a National Monument in 1970 and is now a Provincial Heritage Site. The church lost over 70% of its congregation due to the forced removals of communities under the Group Areas Act (1967). The decimated church not only survived but was able to contribute significantly to the building of a church for the displaced parishioners in Ocean View. See St Francis of Assisi website.
