The building was designed by competition and also received a Cape Provincial Institute of Architects Bronze Medal Award in 1934. It was still intact when inspected by John Rennie in February 1978.

A whole street block of six buildings, including this one, Parker's Buildings and the Trident Building, was demolished to make way for the Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel.
