ASSESSORS’ COMMENT

The logical cohesion of the building creates the illusion that the solution was obvious whilst establishing a dialogue between the two urban spaces it defines. This solid and beautiful structure offers a symbolic building block for Sandton of the future. A significant step in the introduction of an architectural and urban culture in a place that is ingrained with an anti urban system. It speaks of civic spirit and urban order in contrast with the diverse architectural ensemble in its proximity that seems like leftovers of an alien occupation force. The building emanates a unique sense of place and has a potential to become the unconfoundable symbol of its locality. A clear example of architecture mediating between the world as we find it and the world as we wish it to be.
