The National Monuments Council funded the installation of the two steel tension bands as an interim measure to support the high masonry walls. The floor structures had been removed in the past which contributes to the fragile state of the structure. The small lookout turret at the south end of the roof ridge was unfortunately not reinstated during a subsequent restoration funded by the owner - involving the replacement of the original roof. The building continues to suffer from the depredations of metal thieves - the solid steel door has recently been stolen. A new building has recently been constructed in close proximity to the Blockhouse - detracting from its original solitary position on the crest of the hill.

The corrugated iron roof, the steel loopholes and the modern galvanised tension bands around the blockhouse have all recently been stolen by metal thieves. The blockhouse is now clearly at risk from damage by the elements.
