| Lexicon Rand Pioneer _____________________________________________________ A Rand Pioneer is considered to be one, who through their activity, enterprise or industry, was a founding father of Johannesburg society from 1886 onwards. Of the early Johannesburg architects have this soubriquet. Inevitably they are generally white male immigrants, many of them 'Randlords'. The status of being a Rand Pioneer was formalised by the formation of the Rand Pioneer Association (Inc) established on 1903 07 08. Their Oath reads:
