Bauhaus

_____________________________________________________

Bauhaus, was a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts, and was famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. It operated from 1919 to 1933.

In South Africa the influence of the Bauhaus is significant, both through the works of German immigrants such as Erwin FLEISCHMANN and Pius PAHL, but particularly in the devising of the curricula of the South African Schools of Architecture.
