_____________________________________________________

A select group of South Africans that were the recipients of the Baker Scholarship to the British School at Rome

From 1912 onwards, the scholarships have been awarded to:

Furthermore, Ms. Sarah Court from the British School at Rome states in her research: The following are mentioned in notes in amongst the files looked at. It is believed that they were from South Africa. However, there is no indication that they were scholars or indeed that they visited BSR. [While they were Rome Scholars they were not recipients of Baker Scholarship – see British School at Rome]

1912JM SOLOMON
c. 1914VS REES POOLE
1924JA HOOGSTERP
1925HG WARD
1939D Lyall WATSON [in this case the information from the SAIA yearbooks contradicts the information as received from the BSR]
