In the early 1960s students who had done post graduate studies under Louis KAHN began to return to South Africa bringing with them his unmistakable influence. Materials were used in a straightforward honest fashion in large planes. It is a style of the sheer dramatic, geometrical adaptation to context and formalist and rationalist intentions.
