TW MACKEY was born at Molenan, near Londonderry, Ireland, in 1871. He arrived in South Africa in 1902. By 1904 he was in partnership with Austin LEECH in Johannesburg (cf LEECH & MACKEY), which lasted until about 1907. He continued to practise in Johannesburg and was a long-standing member of the Association of Transvaal Architects which he joined in 1910. From about 1913 he worked in partnership with J TOOGOOD. (cf TOOGOOD & MACKEY) in Johannesburg until Toogood's death in 1915; after 1917 he was no longer listed in the city. The South African Architectural Record carried an obituary for him in September 1926.
