Was born in Riga, Russia, and educated in Russia and Germany. He came to the South African Republic in 1894, served in three armies, spoke six languages fluently and practised in Johannesburg. He worked in partnership with JA COPE-CHRISTIE in Johannesburg around 1905-1906 (cf MAY & CHRISTIE). He died in Los Angeles, 22 August 1940.
